SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Sioux Falls Storm secured their first win of the 2023
Indoor Football League season on Sunday night, defeating the Iowa Barnstormers by the final score of 54-24.
The revamped Storm defense racked up three interceptions while the offense found the end zone seven times in the win.
Quarterback
Lorenzo Brown Jr. ran in two touchdowns and threw for another in his first game back inside the
Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
The Veteran QB found Wide Receiver
Dwight Blakey on an 11-yard strike in the 2
nd quarter. It was the first touchdown of the season for Blakey, who found the end zone again on a 10-yard run in the second half.
Running Back
Bryson Denley also scored on a pair of rushing touchdowns in the win.
Three different Storm defenders recorded an interception against the Barnstormers on Sunday, including Safety
Eugene Ford who snagged his second in as many games.
Antwan Hadley and
James Brown each recorded their first interceptions in a Sioux Falls Storm uniform.
Brown's 3
rd quarter pick-six was the first defensive touchdown of the season for a Storm defense that currently ranks 1
st in the IFL in total offense allowed, holding opponents to 162 total yards per game.
The Storm defense has allowed the fewest rushing yards in the IFL this season, giving up just 53 yards on the ground over the first two games.
The team's four interceptions are tied for third most in the league.
The Storm will be home again next weekend when they host the Green Bay Blizzard on Sunday, April 16
