SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Sioux Falls Storm Indoor Football Team announced today that J.J. Hartigan has been named the Director of Media and Community Outreach. In this new role for the organization, Hartigan will oversee the planning and implementation of outreach strategies in the community along with the planning and execution of media campaigns.
J.J. took over broadcasting responsibilities for the Sioux Falls Storm during the 2021 season, and will continue his role covering live games for the organization during the 2023 season.
A graduate of Iowa Lakes Community College, Hartigan also worked for KELO Radio, handling morning news updates and local election coverage.
The Sioux Falls, SD Native has been actively involved in sports entertainment in the area for the last 15 years. He spent five seasons with the Mankato MoonDogs baseball organization before taking over broadcasting and media relations responsibilities with the Sioux Falls Canaries from 2014-2017.
During the off-season, Hartigan broadcasts college football and basketball for Augustana University. He also spent four years as the radio broadcaster for SDSU Jackrabbit Women's Basketball, including three trips to the NCAA Tournament. He also covers Boys and Girls high school basketball state tournaments on South Dakota Public Broadcasting.
Hartigan also has experience hosting studio shows, assisting in production and doing play-by-play for various local and national media outlets. He served as lead analyst for the 2021 NSIC and Summit League baseball tournaments on Midco Sports Network, and has helped with production on several ESPN and CBS Sports Network broadcasts in the area.
"I'm really excited to join the Sioux Falls Storm organization on a full-time basis. The staff and ownership group have welcomed me with open arms and allowed me to be myself," said Hartigan. "The Storm organization has been a huge part of the sports entertainment community in Sioux Falls over the last 20+ years. Our goal in 2023 is to take that entertainment to the next level. We want to bring fun back to indoor football in 2023! I look forward to the challenges and new opportunities that the upcoming season will bring."
