STORM SWEPT BY BARNSTORMERS

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm fell to 5-7 after a 49-55 overtime loss to the Iowa Barnstormers on Saturday, August 14.

The first quarter was a back and forth battle. The Storm scored first after a 19-yard rushing touchdown by Brandon Shepherd, taking an early 7-0 lead after a successful PAT by Parker Douglass. The Barnstormers tied it up with a nine-yard touchdown reception by Carrington Thompson from DeQuan Neal. The Storm retook a 14-7 lead after a one-yard rushing touchdown by Nate Chavious and a successful PAT by Parker Douglass. The Barnstormers tied it up again after a 14-yard rushing touchdown by DeQuan Neal. The Storm ended the quarter with a one-yard quarterback sneak by Lorenzo Brown and a successful PAT by Parker Douglass, giving the Storm a 21-14 lead.

The second was dominated by the Storm, beginning with an interception by Trey Wafford. The Storm capitalized with an 11-yard rushing touchdown by Nate Chavious and a successful PAT by Parker Douglass, extending the Storm's lead to 28-14. The Barnstormers answered with a six-yard touchdown pass to Daylon Person from DeQuan Neal, cutting the lad to 28-21. The Storm ended the quarter with back-to-back touchdowns to put the Storm up 42-21. The first touchdown was a wide-open 24-yard touchdown pass to Nate Chavious from Lorenzo Brown and then a six-yard quarterback keeper by Lorenzo Brown, Parker Douglass PATs were both successful.

The Barnstormers shut the Storm out in the third quarter. The Barnstormers scored back-to-back touchdowns to cut the lead to 42-35. The first touchdown was four-yard rushing touchdown by DeQuan Neal and then a one-yard rushing touchdown by Elad Covaliu.

The Storm started the fourth quarter with a four-yard quarterback keeper by Lorenzo Brown and a successful PAT by Parker Douglass, giving the Storm a 49-35 lead. The Barnstormers answered with a nine-yard touchdown by from DeQuan Neal to Ju'an Williams, cutting the lead to 49-42. Lorenzo Brown was sacked and fumbled on the next drive. The Barnstormers capitalized with a three-yard rushing touchdown by DeQuan Neal, which tied the game at 49. After the kickers from both teams missed their field goal attempts, the game would head into overtime.

The Storm started overtime with the first possession but was unable to get in the end zone. The Barnstormers started their possession and scored with a three-yard rushing touchdown byEvan Owens. Ending the game with a 49-55 Storm loss.

Storm quarterback Lorenzo Brown completed eight passes for 113 yards, one touchdown, one fumble, and had 74 rushing yards for three touchdown. Running back Nate Chavious rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns along with 24 reception yards and one touchdown. Wide receivers Brandon Sheperd had 34 reception yards along with 19 rushing yards and one touchdown, Damian Ford had 37 reception yards and Alonzo Moore had 18 reception yards. Defensive back Trey Wafford and Reid Harrison-Ducros led the Thunder Defense with 12 total tackles, Trey had one interception and one tackle for loss and Reid had two pass break-ups and one tackle for loss. Defensive linemen Demetrius Harris had one tackle for loss. Defensive back Jermaine Robinson had one pass break-up. Kicker Parker Douglass made all seven extra points and missed three field goals.

The Sioux Falls Storm will host the Green Bay Blizzard on Saturday, August 21 at 7:05 PM in the last regular season game.
