SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm moved to 6-7 after a dominating 58-33 win over the Green Bay Blizzard on Saturday, August 21.
The Storm won the toss and deferred to the second half but after a fumble by the Blizzard on the opening drive, the Storm would be the first to strike. The Storm took an early 7-0 lead after a one-yard rushing touchdown by Nate Chavious and successful PAT by Parker Douglass. The Blizzard cut the lead to 7-3 after a 32-yard field goal by Diego Marquez. The Storm ended the quarter with a 14-3 lead after a two-yard rushing touchdown by Lorenzo Brown and successful PAT by Parker Douglass.
The Blizzard were the first to score in the second quarter with a 31-yard field goal by Diego Marquez, bringing the score to 14-6. The Storm answered back with back-to-back scoring drives to extend the lead to 24-6. The first score was a 27-yard field goal by Parker Douglass and then a pick six by Marquis Hendrix and successful PAT by Parker Douglass. The Blizzard cut the lead to 24-12 after a two-yard rushing touchdown by Kerrion Moore. The Storm ended the quarter with a 30-12 lead after a two-yard rushing touchdown by Nate Chavious.
The Storm scored first in the third quarter with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Damian Ford from Lorenzo Brown and successful PAT by Parker Douglass, extending the lead to 37-12. The Blizzard answered with a three-yard rushing touchdown by Brook Bolles to bring the score to 37-19. The Storm ended the quarter with a 44-19 lead after a five-yard rushing touchdown by Tommy Armstrong and successful PAT by Parker Douglass.
The Blizzard began the fourth quarter with a 37-yard touchdown pass to Kerrion Moore from Brook Bolles, bringing the score to 44-26. The Storm extended their lead to 51-26 after a three-yard sweep by Brandon Sheperd. The Blizzard answered with a two-yard touchdown pass to Eric Thomas Jr. from Brook Bolles, bringing the score to 51-33. The Storm ended the game with a one-yard rushing touchdown by Tommy Armstrong and successful PAT by Parker Douglass, bringing the final score to 56-33.
Storm quarterbacks Lorenzo Brown completed five passes for 67 yards with one touchdown and one interception, he also had one rushing touchdown, and Tommy Armstrong completed two out of three passes, he also had 42 rushing yards with two touchdowns. Running back Nate Chavious had 63 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Wide receivers Brandon Sheperd had 15 receiving yards and three rushing yards for one touchdown and Damian Ford had 31 yards for one touchdown. Defensive back Jermainee Robinson led the Thunder Defense with seven tackles. Defensive back Trey Wafford had 0.5 tackles for loss. Linebacker Marquis Hendrix had seven tackles, one interception and one touchdown. Defensive linemen Desmond Raiford had 1.5 tackles for loss and David Marshall had one fumble recovery and one pass break-up. Kicker Parker Douglass made seven out of eight extra points and made one field goal.
The Sioux Falls Storm clinched a 2021 IFL Playoffs spot with the win, while the Blizzard are eliminated from playoff contention.
