Storm Battle Back to Defeat the Blizzard

Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm won in a tightly contested battle against the Green Bay Blizzard on Saturday, April 22nd. The Storm would emerge victorious after a 56-49 contest.

The first quarter was controlled by Green Bay having three successful scoring drives giving the Blizzard an early 17-0 lead. Jasen Odeon started the scoring run after plunging in a one-yard run. Next, Dorian Buford reeled in a 16-yard pass from Matt Behrendt. Jered Fohrrman ended the first half with a successful 25-yard field goal.

Sioux Falls would get on the board for the first time of the game after Lorenzo Brown found Korey Williams for a four-yard touchdown bringing the score to 17-7. The Blizzard would answer back with a five-yard run from quarterback Matt Behrendt helping extend the Blizzard lead 23-7. The Storm would score back-to-back touchdowns to bring the Storm within two-points after Lorenzo Brown and Korey Williams would connect for a 20-yard touchdown and then Lorenzo Brown kept the quarterback keeper for another touchdown, cutting the Blizzard's lead to 23-21. Matt Behrendt would hit Jack Bramswig, helping the Blizzard's lead come to 30-21. The Storm would end the half with an eight-yard touchdown from Lorenzo Brown to Dominic Goodman putting the score at 30-28.

The Sioux Falls Storm would start the second half strong after Lorenzo Brown rushed in a two-yard touchdown giving the Storm its first lead of the night 30-35. Green Bay found back to retake the lead 36-35 after Matt Behrendt would connect with Andre McDonald for a 33-yard touchdown. Lorenzo Brown ran in another two-yard touchdown helping the Storm regain the lead at 36-42. The Blizzard would get their last lead of the night after Darry Ragsdale took in a 20-yard run, putting the Blizzard on top 43-42. The Lightning Strike Offense would end the third quarter after a four-yard rushing touchdown by Robbie Rouse extending the Storm's lead 43-49.

Sioux Falls would be the first to score in the fourth quarter with a 49-yard rushing touchdown by Robbie Rouse, giving the Storm a 43-56 lead. Green Bay ended the game after a one-yard rushing touchdown by Andrew McDonald bringing the final score to 49-56.

Quarterback Lorenzo Brown completed 8 of 13 passes for 103 yards for three touchdowns and one interception, while also rushing 15 times for 24 yards and three touchdowns. Robbie Rouse carried the ball nine times for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Korey Williams caught three passes for 37 yards and two touchdowns. Elijah Fields grabbed one interception and Tyler Knight led the Storm with 13 total tackles.

The Sioux Falls Storm moves to 8-0 while the Green Bay Blizzard falls to 2-7 on the season. The Sioux Falls Storm will face the Wichita Falls Nighthawks on Saturday, April 29th for a 7:05pm kickoff.
