STORM STUMBLE IN 56-40 LOSS TO TULSA

Sioux Falls, SD - The Storm Indoor Football Teame welcomed fans to the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center for their home opener on Sunday afternoon for an IFL showdown with the Tulsa Oilers. Despite a strong start, the Storm succumbed to the Oilers' relentless offense, ultimately falling short with a final score of 56-40.

The Oilers entered the game with a 1-1 record, coming off a victory against the Iowa Barnstormers. Meanwhile, the Storm, with an 0-2 record after two close road losses, were eager to secure their first win of the season in front of their home town fans.

The game started promisingly for the Storm, who took an early 7-3 lead in the first quarter. However, defensive lapses allowed the Oilers to capitalize, scoring points on all nine of their possessions throughout the game.

Despite notable individual performances on defense, including Amin Black's 10 tackles and Elijah Reed's eight tackles along with a tackle for loss each, the Storm struggled with penalties, accumulating 15 flags, hampering potential momentum-building plays.

Former Storm quarterback turned Oilers star, Daniel Smith, proved to be a formidable opponent, leading the Oilers' offense with 169 yards passing and five touchdowns. In contrast, Storm QB Billy Hall, while effective on the ground with 59 rushing yards and a touchdown, faced challenges through the air, completing 9 out of 14 attempts for 76 yards and a touchdown.

Hall's rushing efforts were complemented by a trio of Storm players who contributed touchdowns on the ground, including Keshawn Williams, Xavier Jackson, and Draysean Hudson.

Despite Xavier Jackson's impressive three-touchdown performance, the Oilers' Alexis Rosario stole the show with eight receptions for 77 yards and an astounding four touchdowns.

The Storm's struggles continued into the kicking game, with Oilers kicker Michael Hall converting all nine of his kicks, including two field goals.

In the end, despite a late surge highlighted by a Xavier Jackson touchdown, the Storm fell short, with the final score favoring the Oilers 56-40. Looking ahead, the Storm will aim to reverse their fortunes as they prepare to face the Blizzard in Green Bay next week.
