STORM ROLL INTO TEXAS FOR EASTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWDOWN WITH FRISCO FIGHTERS

FRISCO, TX – The Sioux Falls Storm Indoor Football Team travels to Frisco, TX this Saturday night for the 2023 IFL Eastern Conference Championship Game against the 1st place Frisco Fighters.

Saturday night's game will be the third meeting of the season between these two Eastern Conference foes, with Frisco winning the season series 2-0.The winner of the Eastern Conference Championship will face the winner of the Western Conference Championship game next weekend (Aug. 5th) in the 2023 Indoor Football League National Championship Game, presented by Dollar Loan Center in Las Vegas, NV.

SERIES HISTORY
The Frisco Fighters are 5-0 all-time against the Sioux Falls Storm and hold a 2-0 record against the Storm inside the Comerica Center.

The Storm and Fighters faced each other for the first time this season on June 10th with the Fighters pulling off a 54-51 road win inside the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center after kicker Bryce Crawford nailed a field goal as time expired. The Fighters handed the Storm their worst defeat of the season in Texas on July 1st, posting a 56-15 final inside the Comerica Center.


LET'S SEE HOW FAR WE'VE COME
The Sioux Falls Storm were 4-4 over their first 8 games of the 2023 Indoor Football league season but played much better in the second half. The Storm went 6-2 over the last 8 games, with both losses coming against the Frisco Fighters.

Frisco opened the season with a 7-0 record before losing two of their next three games. The Fighters found their winning way again in the 2nd half of the season, carrying a six-game winning streak into Saturday night's matchup against the Sioux Falls Storm. Frisco's last loss came June 3rd in a road contest against the Massachusetts Pirates (72-58). The Fighters have played three of their last four games at home inside the Comerica Center.


SCOUTING THE FRISCO FIGHTERS
The Frisco Fighters finished the 2023 Indoor Football League season with the best overall record in the league at 14-2 and a 1st place finish in the Eastern Conference standings.
 
The Frisco offense ranked 2nd in the IFL this season in touchdowns (119) and in points per game (53.8).
 
Quarterback TJ Edwards was the Fighter's top offensive threat this season, leading the IFL in pass attempts (214) and was tops in the IFL in rush­ing yards amongst all QBs (765). Edwards finished the season ranked 1st in the IFL in rushing touch­downs (45), 8th in the IFL in passing touchdowns (37), and 4th in the IFL in rush attempts (173). Edwards was 28-for-41 for 370 yards and seven touchdowns in two games against the Storm this season. He also added 64 yards and three rushing touchdowns against Sioux Falls.
 
Wide receiver Jerminic Smith led the Fighters this season with 77 receptions (4th in IFL) and led the team with 896 receiving yards (6th in IFL).
 
The Frisco defense was tops in the Indoor Football league this season, holding opponents to 38.1 points per game.

The Fighters finished the season tied with the Sioux Falls Storm for the league lead in interceptions (20) and were 5th in the IFL in sacks (16). Defensive back Kordell Jackson was the top defensive threat for the Fighters this season, leading Frisco in total tackles (62.5) and was tied for the team lead in interceptions (6). Linebacker Royce See was second on the team in tackles this season (49) and led the team with 19 QB Hits.

 
SCOUTING THE SIOUX FALLS STORM
The Sioux Falls Storm finished the 2023 Indoor Football League season with a 9-6 record and a 2nd place finish in the Eastern Conference standings.
 
The Storm offense ranked 6th in the IFL this season in touchdowns (103) and in points per game (47.1).
 
Quarterback Lorenzo Brown Jr. has been the top offensive threat this season, finishing 5th in the IFL in rushing touchdowns (26) and 7th in passing touchdowns (38). Brown was 10-of-22 for 167 yards and five passing touchdowns in the June 10th home game (L, 54-51) against Frisco. He also had 66 yards and two rushing touchdowns in the loss. The veteran QB was 2-of-11 for 16 yard in the rematch before being replaced by backup Seth Collins. Brown was outstanding in the Storm's first round win over Massachusetts, going 14-of-18 for 183 yards and five touchdowns. He also added 33 yards and a rushing touchdown in the win.

Running back Xavier Jackson appeared in just seven games for the Storm during the regular season, but finished the year tied for 14th in the league in rushing touchdowns (13) while adding 315 rushing yards on the ground and 140 yards and 3 TDs through the air. Jackson has made a major impact since his return from the injured list. Over the last two weeks Jackson has racked up 163 yards of total offense and added six total touchdowns. Jackson had 14 yards of total offense in the Storm's June 10th home game against the Frisco Fighters before going on the injured list.

Wide Receiver Donnie Corley Jr. had a terrific season, ranking 7th in the IFL in receiving touchdowns (20) and 6th in league in yards per catch (14.5).
