Storm Seeking Interns for the 2019 Season

The Sioux Falls Storm is seeking passionate and motivated team players to join their internship program. The program is designed to give top candidates real-life experience in the sports industry, in addition to providing educational and networking opportunities and career advancement opportunities. Interns must commit to internship season dates, February-July and are expected to work Storm home games.

  • Candidates must attend Storm home games (7 regular season plus playoffs).
  • The ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required.
  • Candidates must be innovative, independent, energetic, and organized while possessing excellent communication skills.
  • Candidates must exhibit professional appearance and behavior at all times.
  • A background/major in sports is not required, but is a plus.

Game Day Operations

  • Assist game-day operation staff with various tasks associated with in-game promotions, game-day entertainment and fan experience, pre-game ceremonies, and post-game activities.
  • Assist with pre-game preparation (such field-side suites preparation, apparel stand, etc.)
  • Help set up and tear down of all game day elements pertaining to guest experience.
  • Assist with development, planning and execution of special events (such as birthday parties).
  • Process, deliver, and organize ticket orders.
  • Fulfill season ticket holder benefits, ticket needs, and answer questions.

Sponsorships & Sales

  • Fulfill contractual elements of team sponsor deals.
  • Develop and maintain plans of action per sponsorship terms.
  • Draft correspondence and forms to current and potential sponsors.

Office Management

  • Ticketing: manage the ticket request and fulfillment process for all comp ticket inquires as it relates games and events.
  • Organization of office duties along with office supplies and mailings.
  • Assist with development, planning and execution of special events (such as birthday parties).

  • Projects include player features, weekly recaps and marketing content
  • Conducts player and coaches interviews.
  • Creating video content for editorial, digital web, and social media.
  • Produce & Edit content.
  • Gathers information about content through research, & interviews.
  • Knowledge of Final Cut Pro, Photoshop (or photo editing programs), Website Editing and willingness to learn new technology.

Graphic Design

  • Creates graphics for social media and website.
  • Edits pictures to include team logo or filters to enhance for social media outlets.
  • Creates game day graphics as needed including re-cap graphics.
  • Assists in creating fan hype, player highlight and game highlight videos.
  • Create digital animations for use throughout social media platforms.
  • Responsible for updating on-going creative pieces for games.
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, etc).

Digital Media

  • Assist with content for social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat).
  • Assist in capturing pre-game events on the field and promotional events occurring before the game and in between quarters to post on Instagram and Snapchat stories.
  • Assist in Willingness to cover community events (clinics, player/coach/mascot appearances) and practices to collect content from players, coaches, and behind the scenes as assigned for photos/videos purposes.
  • Assisting with graphic creation and other digital marketing content throughout the season for use on the team website and social platforms.


  • Develop content for website and social media channels.
  • Compile and update media guides and athlete bios.
  • Compile event specific and weekly reports.
  • Assist with writing game stories (previews and recaps) for both away and home games.
  • Assist with writing press releases.
  • Assist with feature stories on team developments.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.

Office Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays 9AM-4PM, Fridays of Game Weeks Only 9AM-5PM
