The Sioux Falls Storm defeated the Green Bay Blizzard 44-24 on Saturday, May 13 during a week 13 Indoor Football League battle.
Lorenzo Brown would be the first to score for the Storm after a four-yard touchdown run putting the Storm on top 7-0. Green Bay would answer back after a Darry Ragsdale two-yard rushing touchdown to tie the game at 7-7 at the end of the first quarter.
Sioux Falls would score back-to-back to begin the second quarter. First a one-yard rushing touchdown by Jared Elmore and then a five-yard rushing touchdown by Robbie Rouse to extend the Storm's lead 20-7. The Blizzard would end the half down 20-14 after quarterback Matt Behrendt hit Jack Bramswig for a five-yard touchdown.
The third quarter was a back and forth battle with Sioux Falls striking first after a five-yard rushing touchdown by Eric Shufford to put the Storm up 27-14. Green Bay kicker Jeff Budzien hit a 24-yard field goal to bring the Blizzard within 10. Lorenzo Brown would end the third quarter with a four-yard rushing touchdown extending the Storm's lead 34-17.
Green Bay would strike first in the fourth quarter when Matt Behrendt connected with Jack Bramswig for a five-yard touchdown bringing the score to 34-24. Sioux Falls answered back when Lorenzo Brown threw a 19-yard pass to Drew Powell giving the Storm a 41-24 lead. Justin Syrovatka would end the game after hitting a 29-yard field goal ending the game with a 44-24 score.
Quarterback Brown completed nine of 13 passes for 93 yards and one touchdown, while rushing 15 times for 61 yards and two scores. Running back Robbie Rouse had 13 carries for 48 yards and one touchdown. Receivers Jared Elmore and Eric Shufford each had a rushing touchdown. While Janathan Epps led the Storm in receiving with three receptions for 29 yards. Tyler Knight had 5.5 total tackles and a fumble recovery, and Claude Davis recovered the other fumble for the Storm. Khaliff Mitchell tallied two sacks and Cory Henry had one sack.
The Storm (10-1) will host the Cedar Rapids Titans (1-11) on May 20 at 7:05 p.m.
